Day 01: Arrive at Chennai

Day 02: Chennai - Tiruvanamalai

Morning drive to Tiruvanamalai visiting Kanchipuram enroute. Kanchipuram (64 kms from Madras) is the ancient capital of the Pallavas famous as a city of 1000 Temples and still has 124 shrines. The first temple dedicated to Shiva was built in the 7th and 8th century and has paintings on the walls. Temples of Ekambaswara, Kailasanatha, Sri Kamakshi and Varadarajaswamy are of interest. Day 03: Tiruvanamalai Sightseeing

Excursion of Gingee. Gingee has three famous forts situate in a triangular set up known as Rajagiri, Krishnagiri and Chandragiri. Rajagiri is the primary fort and the other two forts are of a low profile. A wall stretching and encompassing all these forts remains as a standing monument. These three forts are said to have been built by some Konars, that refers to the names of some chieftains, during the period between 1200 A.D and 1240 A.D. Overnight Tiruvanamalai.

Day 04: Tiruvanamalai - Yercaud

Yercaud is located in the Shevaroy Hills, about 4,500 ft above sea level. Famous for its scenic beauty and natural charm, the place is know for exotic flowers like sunflower, roses and dahlias. On the way to Yercaud, you will be seeing the coffee plantations and orange groves. The attractions of Yercaud are - the Big Lake for boating and Anna Park. Day 06: Yercaud - Trichy

Morning drive to Trichy. Afternoon city tour. Trichy was the citadel of the Chola dynasty in the medieval period. In the 18th century it witnessed the Carnatic wars fought between the French and the English. Lord Robert Clive's house is still there to see and so is the Danish Church. The Rock-Fort is the landmark of Trichy. A climb of 434 steps leads to the ancient temple of Ganapati on top and a further climb to a Shiva temple. Overnight Trichy.

Day 07: Trichy - Kodaikanal

Morning after breakfast, Drive to Kodaikanal. Check in listed hotel. Kodaikanal is a hill town in the Tamil Nadu. It’s set in an area of granite cliffs, forested valleys, lakes, waterfalls and grassy hills. At 2,000 meters above sea level, the town centers around man-made, star-shaped Kodaikanal Lake, bordered by evergreen forest. Day 08: Kodaikanal Sightseeing

Day 11: Chettinad - Thanjavur

Morning drive to Thanjavur.
